Special Applicant Groups

Veterans: Special Employment Service assistance in the form of counseling, testing, training, and placement is available to eligible veterans under the Serviceman's Readjustment Benefit Act of 1966 and the Vietnam Era Veteran's Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974.

UI Claimants: Positive reemployment assistance is provided to recipients of Unemployment Insurance. The full range of employment services, including placement and counseling, is offered to claimants without firm job attachments.

Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers: Special attention is directed toward making available to these applicants the full range of counseling, testing, training, and job referral services on a qualitatively equivalent and quantitatively proportionate basis as are provided to nonfarm workers. The agency endeavors to shift the seasonal work force from areas of supply to areas of demand. The Monitor/Advocate monitors services rendered to this group to ensure that they receive equity of access and that an effective complaint system for all applicants is available.

Disabilities: The South Carolina Employment Security Commission is the state coordinator for the Americans with Disabilities Act and provides information and services through contract with the Southeast Disability & Business Technical Assistance Center.
